Cloud Solutions Team:
We have developed a ‘Lighting Intelligence Platform’ (LIP) that supports our digital services offering. This platform enables our systems, currently deployed globally with customers in 50 countries, to collect data from buildings which is then analysed to provide insights such as occupancy rates, space utilization, and energy consumption to building owners and tenants. We also use the collected information for various machine learning and AI based algorithms which can predict malfunctioning devices and future occupancy predictions.
Our Cloud Solutions team is now expanding to fulfill growing demand to provide more modern ways of maintaining and monitoring lighting systems. This industry ‘upgrade’ we are pioneering will ultimately provide valuable insight into how buildings can better be utilized, fully encapsulating the ‘Smart’ in Smart Buildings.
As Software Developer, you will be developing a cloud data platform that collects data from our on-premise systems and exposes it via modern interfaces, such as a Web UI and a RESTful Interface. You will develop features to support our lighting control applications and aggregation of data generated by our lighting control systems, such as device discovery. You will help us migrate some of our existing applications from on-premise to the cloud, such as system configuration and alert monitoring.
You will help us collect data for our data lake to service our analytics team and then productise features based on those analytics, such as predictive occupancy. We have deployed our Lighting Intelligence Platform offering to approximately 30 out of the thousands of sites we have successfully deployed around the world, so there is much work still to be done. We have recently integrated the Jyväskylä Hospital project into our platform, which is one of the largest lighting control projects Helvar has ever undertaken. With your help, we are looking to rapidly increase the number of Lighting Intelligence Platform integrations with new and existing projects that utilize Helvar light control systems.
In a nutshell, you will contribute to the architecture, design, codebase, and testing and documentation of our cloud software. As you can plainly see, we are primarily using AWS, along with proprietary hardware, wired and wireless technologies, and other modern industry protocols and tools. You will be coding plenty, so roll up your sleeves and get ready to develop!
Experience building enterprise applications and cloud services on top of AWS
Prior experience or knowledge of various AWS managed services or similar such as Lambda, SNS, SES, S3, API Gateway, Cognito etc.
Database experience with SQL and NoSQL: cloud hosted, managed databases such as DynamiDB, RDS, AWS Aurora, etc
Experience with testing, unit tests, TDD etc (clean code practices)
Experience with BitBucket, Jenkins, GitHub or CircleCI
Excellent English communication
Extra skills which are a bonus:
An understanding of serverless architecture
Experience with RESTful APIs
Knowledge of network programming, wireless technologies & distributed systems
