City Solutions division is responsible for developing sustainable city solutions into a growing business for Fortum. The division comprises heating and cooling, waste-to-energy, recycling and expertise sales.
Your role
The HQ Power project is a 70 MWe peat fired power plant situated in Rwanda. The Operation and Maintenance (O&M) contract with Fortum covers the operation and maintenance services of this new plant including technical services and IT tools needed for the operations. The site is located 150km from the capital Kigali close to the Burundian border. The construction and commissioning of the power plant is ongoing and should be completed by early 2021. We are in the finals phases of mobilization of our organization.
We are now looking for an Maintenance Manager for the HQ Power Plant.
As a Maintenance Manager you are responsible for the maintenance and technical improvement of the power station as a part of the O&M contract. As a part of the station management team you ensure that the plant and equipment availability targets are met. You lead the maintenance department and oversee a team of Engineers, Maintenance Technicians and Store controller.
Your management responsibilities include ensuring that all work activities are carried out with Health Safety and Environmental highest standards are achieved. You will ensure all contractors work activities comply with all site rules and regulations.

Your qualifications
You have at least 5 years' experience from power plant maintenance and working in Fortum group for minimum 2 years. You have experience in managing maintenance teams and contractors to deliver agreed objectives and targets. You have a degree M.Sc. or B.Sc. Engineering preferably within Mechanical, Electrical or Process discipline. You have the ability to demonstrate effective management and understanding of legislation with regards to Health, Safety and Environmental requirements. You also have good understanding of financial management including budget planning, forecasting and cost control. You are also fluent in English language.
